About me
Training & Experience
I have been working in the helping profession since the year 2000 and completed my training as a humanistic integrative counsellor and psychotherapist in 2006 and work with adult individuals. My journey began from going through my own personal challenges and experiencing therapy, which I found immensely helpful to my own personal development and healing. One cannot overstate the benefit of having a confidential and safe space to talk.
I have always been passionate about helping others and volunteered in local charities as a befriender and with listening services. I came to realise that only by pursuing professional training could I really help people heal in the way I knew was possible. Since then, I have pursued many training opportunities and voluntary placements to develop my skills to help those struggling, including with the YMCA and Crossroads Counselling Service to support those on low incomes.
I do not follow a one-size fits all approach and tailor the sessions based on what the client brings. I also have a particular interest in complementary therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, transpersonal psychology and spiritual based practices as I believe in approaching individuals holistically. Most of all I am passionate about helping others to be the best version of themselves.
Qualifications
I hold a BACP Accredited Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and have had additional training in bereavement, short term counselling, abuse, alcohol, anger management and anxiety. I attend annual professional development regularly to keep up to date with new legislation and research. Some of these have recently been in trauma and complex post-traumatic stress disorder.
I am also a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which provides an ethical framework for good practice. All my work is supported by a clinical supervisor in line with BACP recommendations. Beyond my clinical work, I am also a keen writer.
